There is no doubt that “One Piece” is one of the quirkiest manga and anime properties out there. However, it would seem that there was a time when it got even weirder than it is now, with the creator accidentally giving the main character Luffy breasts. This week’s manga issue also revealed some new Devil Fruit powers courtesy of Kaido. [Spoilers Ahead]
In an interview that “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda gave to Katsuya Terada who wrote a book about the show and manga, Oda revealed that he once gave Luffy some breasts. This was apparently during a drawing session that went on all night, causing Oda some sleep deprivation. Twitter user sandman kindly provided translations on the matter.
“Oda can draw better drawings when he is busy, but one day he drew boobs in Luffy’s body when he stayed awake all night,” the translation reads.

Now, Luffy has largely been considered a man’s man. Tough, driven and loves to eat and drink, there’s nothing about him that would suggest that he would be suitable as a woman. As such, fans can only imagine the hilarious scenarios that would ensue if ever he found himself with a pair of breasts one day. Sanji’s reaction alone might break a few ribs and burst some stomachs of “One Piece” fans.
Moving on to more recent developments in “One Piece,” chapter 914 was released recently, and it provided a decent amount of backstory. There’s the part about the Kozuki clan being the former and benevolent rulers of Wano 20 years ago, for example, before they were kicked out by Kaido. Some new Devil Fruit powers were also shown in the chapter, Otaku Art reports.
These powers manifested themselves in the transformation of the users into a bat and a gazelle. In typical “One Piece” fashion, the changes are less than flattering, but they are functional. In any case, the chapter also revealed that Trafalgar Law is in Wano. He will be trying to stop Luffy and Zoro from doing anything stupid in an attempt to rescue a kidnapped Tama.
