The long wait is almost over for fans who have been waiting for “One-Punch Man” Season 2 to air. As noted by Viz Media in August, the second season of the highly anticipated anime series is slated to premiere in April 2019.
The trailer that comes with the announcement doesn’t really show anything new. It was just some footage from the first season, but it features new dialogue that should come up in “One-Punch Man” Season 2. Well, the rumors about Saitama facing Garou seem to be true.
Aside from the new dialogue, Viz Media didn’t really reveal much in their announcement. However, they did release an official synopsis for “One-Punch Man” Season 2, via ComicBook.com.
"Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of ‘special training,’ he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance."
The plot details shouldn’t come as a surprise for followers of the source webcomic and manga series. Garou was always going to be an antagonist this season. In fact, he already made a cameo appearance in the first season.
Garou should play a big role in “One-Punch Man” Season 2 as he hunts down heroes just to test his skills. He remains one of the most interesting villains in the series because he is the opposite of Saitama. Whereas Saitama enjoys doing good deeds and being a hero, Garou's goal is twisted and he wants to become a monster. It will be interesting to see Garou in action.
