Recently, Sam Heughan posted an Instagram Live update with a joke that Black Jack Randall is alive in “Outlander” season 4. While this is obviously just a playful social media update from the actor, some fans might still want to dissect the facts and see if there is any chance that this could be true.
The Daily Express reported on Heughan’s recent social media update that contained a photo of a bottle of the lager brand Jack Black. The actor then poked more fun at the post by adding the text, “Black Jack’s alive?”
Black Jack, aka Jonathan Randall (Tobias Menzies), was an English knight who lived during the Jacobite Rising of 1745. As far as the story goes, he is already dead and is apparently not part of any plot in “Outlander” season 4.
Fans would also recall that “Outlander” season 4 will have its own main villain, Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers). It would also be impossible for Menzies to join the “Outlander” season 4 now that it is confirmed he will be portraying Prince Philip in Netflix’s “The Crown” season 3.
Last June, a video of Heughan was also uploaded on YouTube where he is seen talking to several fans and giving his serious insights into the new villain in “Outlander” season 4. Heughan commented that Speleers is “doing an amazing job” and assured fans they are going to love and hate the smuggler pirate, “probably more than Randall.”
Meanwhile, more official teasers for “Outlander” season 4 were released recently as the return of the series draws near. Heughan and co-star Caitriona Balfe also teased that Jamie and Claire will be showing a "more mature relationship" as they “brave the new world” set in the early years of the founding of America.
“I think this season we've had a chance to explore what their relationship is without the external forces ripping them apart in the same way as we have previously,” Balfe recently told Entertainment Tonight. “Outlander” season 4 will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
