“Outlander” season 4 episode 7 will become one of the most important installment of the series this year. The teasers suggest the anticipated meeting of Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and main villain Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) happening.
The upcoming installment also appears to be focused on Brianna and Roger’s (Richard Rankin) travel through time. So fans can expect that “Outlander” season 4 episode 7 is most likely happening with little to no sighting of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan).
“Down the Rabbit Hole” is the title for “Outlander” season 4 episode 7, which is obviously a nod to this significant development in Brianna’s journey of finding her parents. However, fans who have read Diana Gabaldon’s novel series would know that nothing comes to easy for Brianna just like things were for Jamie and Claire.
The promo video for “Outlander” season 4 episode 7 also gives a good amount of screen time for Stephen. And the scenes that include him are straightforwardly painting a villainous picture. This means Stephen is also going to be the focus of the upcoming episode, aside from Brianna and Roger.
In the brief preview, Brianna is seen purchasing a passage through Phillip Alonzo. Then the “Outlander” season 4 episode 7 teaser cuts to a scene where Stephen says, “A wise man leaves the things beyond his power to the gods. But on this ship, everything’s in my power.”
These “Outlander” season 4 episode 7 scenes, obviously, build up the event of Brianna and Stephen’s encounter. In the book “Drums of Autumn,” Brianna and Stephen’s meeting leads to her tragic rape. And it has been previously confirmed that the TV show would not stir away from this highly sensitive scene.
This unfortunate event is unlikely happening in “Outlander” season 4 episode 7. But the producers and writers of the show have long had an idea and a “principle” of how they would treat these scenes.
"As in everything we do with this show, like Jamie's rape in season one, we're not trying to ever be gratuitous. … Every scene moving forward, we're trying to do something where you understand why the character is struggling so much but not doing it in a gratuitous way,” executive producer Maril Davis previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “Outlander” season 4 episode 7 will air on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
