“Peaky Blinders” Season 5 is expected to feature a lot of scenes where the Shelby brothers will corrupt everything that they touch. It would appear that they are actually moving in on football for this purpose in order to use the sport to make dirty money. Will they actually do what FIFA does long before there was even a FIFA?
Speaking to Metro recently, Paul Anderson who plays Arthur Shelby talked about how Tommy (Cillian Murphy) will not be a typical politician. It would seem that he is going to use his new position to further the criminal enterprise that he is running with his brothers in “Peaky Blinders” Season 5. Basically, he will be like many of the politicians who are currently in office today.
“Arthur’s not gonna be a politician. He’s got political ties now, let’s put it that way. But you won’t see him at no rallies or in Parliament,” the actor said. “What it gives Arthur and his family is more power. Tommy is in a position of power, and he can only get stronger in that position.
“So we’ll all have more cover, we’ll have more opportunity, and more protection. And by protection I mean by society and the police and so on. We’ll be able to get away with things under the guise of, ‘we’re politicians, we’re respectable’. But we’ll be able to manipulate things more. Arthur will be even more Arthur. So it will be a lot of fun.”
As The Daily Express notes, it would seem that “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will also be featuring a storyline in which football will be a plot point. This is due to an image of the set where the words Tranmere Rovers are written on a board. This is a Merseyside-based football team. When the new season of the show premieres on spring of 2019, a whole new corruption ballgame could be in play.
