There have been a lot of reports linking former “Game of Thrones” actor Richard Madden to the role of James Bond once Daniel Craig walks away from the franchise, but Gossip Cop is here to debunk these claims.
“Gossip Cop checked in with Madden’s rep, who has no knowledge of the actor being approached by Bond producers. It’s safe to say that a spokesperson qualified to speak on the actor’s behalf knows more about his career than untraceable ‘insiders.’ Also, not a single Hollywood trade publication, which typically break major casting news, has reported that Madden is in the running,” Andrew Shuster said in his fact-checking report for Gossip Cop. “It doesn’t make sense that producers would be looking for Craig’s replacement well before his next Bond movie stars shooting.”
Rumors regarding Richard Madden becoming the next James Bond have been circulating on the internet for weeks now. After he impressed viewers with his performance as Sergeant David Budd in the BBC series “Bodyguard,” bookmakers in the U.K. even slashed the odds on him becoming the next person to play the suave British spy.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claimed that Madden is about to be offered the chance to play the role in their report a couple of weeks ago, and their sources say that he is on the top of longtime Bond executive producer Barbara Broccoli’s list. The National Enquirer also tried to stir up some drama earlier this week when they reported that Madden attempted to steal the role from Idris Elba. But that can’t be true because the “Thor: Ragnarok” star has already told the press that he is not in the running for the role.
Richard Madden does look great in a suit and he is charismatic enough to take up the role. Unfortunately, the studio doesn’t seem to be looking for a new Bond at the moment since Daniel Craig still has to fulfill his contract.
