“Riverdale” season 3 is chock full of exciting possibilities after the turbulent changes on the show last season. “Riverdale” season 3 creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa recently posted on Twitter about finishing the show's production for its mid-season finale. Sacasa was celebrating the fact that production for the series is apparently going smoothly despite the show due to air a week away as of his post.
Episode 308 is our mid-season finale! (#Riverdale hasn’t even premiered and we’re already shooting our mid-season finale!!) ????⚒???????????????? pic.twitter.com/s022T8KKtS

While normally a moment to celebrate, fans may note that the episode that Sacasa mentions as the mid-season finale is the eighth episode for “Riverdale” season 3. The CW has yet to confirm how many episodes the upcoming installment will actually have. But it looks like fans need to be prepared for “Riverdale” season 3 having fewer than 20 episodes.
Thankfully, there is enough information about the show's upcoming episodes for fans to speculate about which plots will be important in the following season. The CW also only released the press summaries for “Riverdale” season 3's first three episodes. It looks to be confirmed that Archie's (KJ Apa) murder charge will end with him in prison – whether with or without Hiram Lodge's (Mark Consuelos) help will be confirmed when the season premiere episode airs.
In addition, fans can expect the Ghoulies to continue being a thorn to the Southside Serpents, who are now led by Jughead (Cole Sprouse) after F.P. Jones's retirement. Jughead and Betty (Lili Reinhart) will also get involved in another mystery with a discovery in the forest. With all the possible storylines just from summaries of “Riverdale” season 3's first two episodes, fans can only hope that the show can fit the plots into the potentially shorter installment.
Fans looking forward to how the gang gets through their latest challenges can catch “Riverdale” season 3 and its premiere episode when it airs on Oct. 10.
