"Outlander" male lead star Sam Heughan made fans excited after he told Caitriona Balfe, “Love you” via social media. Sam wrote the message after his co-star invited fans to watch “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” his new film.
On Aug. 3, Caitriona Balfe tweeted, “Well that’s my weekend planned. Can’t wait to see this!!!!! Everyone run out and see this movie!!! So damn proud of @SamHeughan I take back everything I’ve ever said about how funny you are!!! #ahem @SpyWhoDumpedMe”
Sam Heughan immediately replied. It was short but enough to make fans go crazy.
Caitriona’s leading man in “Outlander” wrote, “Love you!!! Learnt everything I know, from you…(which explains a lot).”
The Sun noted that fans got so excited by the exchange and they are happy to see the two being supportive of each other, on- and off-screen.
One fan shared, “These are the nicest and the most beautiful tweets I’ve ever read! I won’t be able to sleep tonight. I love them.”

The fans’ reaction is quite understandable as most of them want the “Outlander” stars to date in real life. However, Caitriona Balfe is already in a relationship with Tony McGill and they recently got engaged after dating for a long time.
On the other hand, it was reported that Sam Heughan is dating “Twin Peaks” actress Amy Shiels. According to Us Weekly, the pair is now officially dating after a decade of "flirty friendship."
This was not the first time that Sam and Amy were rumored to be in a relationship. They were said to have dated in 2014 and 2016 but neither of them commented or addressed the reports.
The couple’s dating rumors intensified when Amy was spotted at Sam’s “The Spy Who Dumped Me” L.A. premiere on July 25. Then after two days, they were seen hanging out together at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were also suspected of dating while filming for their hit series, “Outlander.” The former denied the rumors in his interview with Metro U.K. in 2017.
