It appears the Samsung Galaxy S21 launch will have one thing similar to the iPhone 12 series. A certification filing has been discovered recently citing that the upcoming smartphones will be sold without essential accessories.
Samsung Galaxy S21 boxes could be smaller like the iPhone 12 series, report claims
The latest information comes from a document filed to Anatel, also known as Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency, as first reported by Tecnoblog. The same report includes a screenshot of the pertinent part of the filing where the agency summarizes results of testing the device believed to be the Galaxy S21.
A scan of the document through Google Translate reveals that two lines written in bold texts say “The cell phone will not be sold with the power supplies” and “The cell phone will not be sold with headphones.” For the sake of the certification, however, the device was tested with Samsung-made chargers and earphones with model numbers that correspond to an AKG product that connects through USB Type-C.

This is not the first time Samsung has been reported to ditch the free power adapter and earphones for its 2021 smartphones, including the Galaxy S21 series. Articles published back in July have already suggested this possibility, so many got curious when a Facebook-verified Samsung page made fun of Apple in October for launching the iPhone 12 series without the accessories. The social media post has since been taken down, but the power of screenshots might not let Samsung get away with it anytime soon.
Considering that the information comes from a certification filing, it is very likely that Samsung is planning to follow Apple’s move of shipping Galaxy S21 phones with a smaller box. However, it remains to be seen if the change will be applied in other territories as well.
Samsung Galaxy S21 release date expected in early 2021
Fans of Samsung will have other things to look forward to on the Galaxy S21 if the recent rumors would turn out to be accurate. Over the last months, Samsung has been reported to include S Pen support to its flagship smartphone lineup for the first. The company has yet to confirm this claim, but it has also sparked speculations that the end of the Galaxy Note series is near.
Samsung is also anticipated to launch the Galaxy S21 series around a month earlier than its usual schedule. Previous reports offer the possibility of an announcement in January 2021 and a retail launch in the following month.
