Netflix renewed “Stranger Things” season 4 last year and fans rejoiced at this announcement. The streaming provider revealed the renewal via a short video that showed the drama’s title and no. 4 which obviously means the fourth season.
In the promo clip, an intriguing tagline was also written across the screen and it reads: “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.” While there is no other information or clue provided, fans began to speculate about what it could mean and most viewers agreed that the setting of the future episodes has changed.
Spoiler - Hopper is alive!
When “Stranger Things” season 4 was confirmed, the first thing that fans want to know is whether Hopper (David Harbour) is alive. There were many theories about him and it appears that there were correct predictions with regards to his fate.
The amazing thing is the fact that some even correctly guessed where he could have ended after the machine that sealed off the portal in Hawkins in the third season finale exploded. Netflix confirmed that the sheriff is alive through the new teaser that was unveiled on Valentine’s day. In the video, it was also affirmed that he is Russia and he probably got there through teleportation.
How it happened will surely be shown in “Stranger Things” season 4. Hopper did not die after all but Eleven and the rest still have to know the truth.
"We're excited to officially confirm that production on ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 is now underway -- and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!" Fox 5 quoted Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the sci-fi drama’s showrunners, as saying in a statement. "Although it's not all good news for our 'American'; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human..and other."
Filming on hold
Then again, it may take a while before fans can watch “Stranger Things” season 4 as it was revealed that its producer and director, Shawn Levy, decided to temporarily shut down the production. He told Variety that they are only one month into filming when Netflix called him due to concerns on the coronavirus pandemic.
“I was having phone calls with Netflix while directing takes and blocking scenes and we shared the news with our cast and crew that we would be pausing production out of an abundance of caution,” Levy said. “There were no sick crew members, no one was exhibiting symptoms, but it seemed like the right thing to do.”
“Stranger Things” season 4 has no release date yet as of this time.
