“Supergirl” season 4 ended 2018 with a bang as episode 9 concluded a three-part crossover event. Unfortunately, there will be a month-long hiatus before a new episode arrives.
For a brief recap, “Supergirl” season 4 episode 9 hosted the third segment or the ending to the “Elseworlds” crossover event. Once again, TV fans saw Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) fighting alongside other DC superheroes in The CW network such as Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Flash (Grant Gustin), along with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).
The crossover episode in “Supergirl” season 4 ended with a romantic sequence with Superman and a pregnant Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch). Unfortunately, it was cut short by Batwoman’s (Ruby Rose) call telling Oliver about Deegan (Jeremy Davies) befriending Roger Hayden (Bob Frazer). Then, a closing credit confirmed that crossover event for 2019 is titled “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”
Before that, Kara Danvers will continue her standalone adventure in “Supergirl” season 4 once the show returns next year. The CW already released the first teaser for episode 10 and it does not look good for the titular heroine.
The brief preview for “Supergirl” season 4 episode 10 shows Department of Extra-Normal Operations’ (DEO) Lauren Haley (April Parker Jones) talking to Kara about laying low for a while. “Think about what will happen if your enemies find out who you are. Your friends, your family will have a target on their back,” says Haley.
Later in the “Supergirl” season 4 episode 10 trailer, Kara is devastated about putting away her cape. With tears and sadness, she ponders, “Who am I without Supergirl?” It now appears that this is the main arc to be tackled in the second half of “Supergirl” season 4.
There are speculations that President Baker (Bruce Boxleitner) and Haley are not genuinely driven to protect aliens. So having Kara around as an unofficial savior of the city will not sit well for their motives. Without DEO on her side, Kara’s job will be more challenging and difficult. This conflict also puts Alex (Chyler Leigh) in a tricky situation when the institution she works for is practically against who her sister is. “Supergirl” season 4 will return with its 10th episode on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019.
