SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 17, 2016 -- Synaptics Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYNA), the leading developer of human interface solutions, today announced the Natural ID™ FS4304, an ultra-slim area-touch biometric fingerprint sensor designed with industrial design flexibility to fit small spaces including the edge of smartphones or tablets. FS4304 is only 3.5mm wide and can be integrated into side-mounted buttons, such as the volume rocker, ultimately eliminating the footprint and cost required of creating an additional cutout in the frame or glass, and enhances the user experience by utilizing a natural finger resting location.
Synaptics’ Natural ID’s one-touch design, backed by deep system integration expertise, delivers a high performance and reliable user experience. Natural ID provides unmatched biometric security for user authentication including SentryPoint, the industry’s highest level of fingerprint security. Synaptics offers a full slate of fingerprint solutions with form factors that can be designed into front buttons, rear panels, edges of devices, as well as through thick cover glass, addressing button-free industrial designs.
“Synaptics’ FS4300 family is market-proven with over 50 million units shipped into mass production, and with this new ultra-slim format OEMs can differentiate by designing fingerprint into a variety of small spaces. The rapid growth of secure fingerprint authentication across multiple markets, including China and mid- to lower-end smartphone models, is driving our leading portfolio of solutions,” said Ritu Favre, senior vice president and general manager, Biometrics Product Division, Synaptics.
