“The Blacklist” season 6 has some serious mysteries to explain, especially about Raymond Reddington. There are many fan theories circulating online about this topic. But one of the most interesting suggestions is that James Spader’s character is an identical twin of Liz Keen’s (Megan Boone) real father.

For almost the entire five seasons, Spader was thought to be portraying the real Reddington. But the season 5 finale left fans with an entirely new possibility that practically debunked what they learned in seasons 1 to 5. And “The Blacklist” season 6 is now expected to feature Liz’s new adventure of seeking the truth about her fake father.

A fan previously shared their speculation through Reddit, which can be an interesting twist in “The Blacklist” season 6. The said viewer recalled a particular scene in season 1 episode 20 where Red shared a story about being a lifeguard while he was in high school.

In the said scene, fake Red said that an incident with a certain Mrs. Bierman had since forced him to avoid swimming pools. But Reddington was a former Navy and avoiding bodies of water would have not been an option. Then the fan jumped to the conclusion that the so-called fake Red is the twin brother of Liz’s real father since he matched the latter’s known appearance. Obviously, it will take until “The Blacklist” season 6 to test this theory.

Other fans have doubts about this particular plot theory. Some note that Reddington is supposedly a trained Naval intelligence officer so lying is part of his nature. No matter what the truth about Spader’s character is, getting to the bottom of it is definitely Liz’s main mission in “The Blacklist” season 6.

Having a fake Red is a whole new territory for Liz, especially since she has no idea what his motives are. But Liz has the upper hand in “The Blacklist” season 6 since Red is not aware that she already knows about his con act.

Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp hinted that this is going to result in a major “power shift” in “The Blacklist” season 6. “[Reddington] always ahead of the curve. He’s a very cunning and smart, brilliant mastermind criminal, and yet he didn’t see this one coming,” Bokenkamp explained to Entertainment Weekly.

NBC confirmed the renewal of the show earlier this year. But “The Blacklist” season 6 is not expected to premiere until 2019.
