“The Blacklist” season 6 is one of the most anticipated drama releases on NBC but since there has been no real update about the show, fans are wondering if the network decided not to air it anymore. Viewers should not worry anymore because, despite the lack of update, the show was definitely renewed.
TV Line reported that NBC ordered “The Blacklist” season 6 to be produced and the network could have based its decision on the series’s viewership ratings. As stated by the report, season 5 recorded an average of 0.9 rating along with 5.7 million weekly total viewers. The show also ranks seventh on NBC’s own list of most-watched dramas.
“The Blacklist” season 6 is clearly happening and fans should just be patient because the production team wants to ensure that they will deliver only the best episodes for the upcoming installment.
What Will Happen in Season 6?
“The Blacklist” season 5 was both dramatic and suspenseful as there were revelations and discoveries that led to major plot twists. Season 6 will continue where the fifth season’s finale left off so it means that Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) will now set out to investigate Raymond Reddington (James Spader). Is he an imposter? If so, what is his real identity?
Liz, along with Jennifer Reddington (Fiona Dourif), vowed to uncover Red’s identity. However, before they could begin, they found out that they are half-sisters. The discovery will surely have a big effect on the investigation and it seems that rather than becoming closer, the two will choose to have a professional relationship.
Jennifer is not a regular character on the show but she will surely be in “The Blacklist” season 6 since it was already revealed that she has a major connection with Liz and Red. Executive Producer Jon Bokenkamp also confirmed the character’s return in an interview.
“This is a storyline that has been long gestating. It’s something we often talk about in the writers’ room: who that Jennifer character is, when would be a good time to bring her back,” the EP told Variety. “As the story plays out you’ll see it’s a very organic, personal story and the reason for the ‘why now’ is a really compelling one.”
“The Blacklist” season 6 will arrive in January 2019, as per TV Guide.
