BBC's four-part mystery drama about the abduction of baby Noah from his parents Joanna (Jenna Coleman) and Alistair (Ewan Leslie) continues to break hearts as the scheduled air date for “The Cry” episode 3 gets closer with no sign of the abducted child in sight.
Jenna Coleman and Ewan Leslie's performances as parents dealing with the loss of a child were spectacular in the first few episodes of the mini-series but new teasers for “The Cry” episode 3 seem to reveal a darker side to the couple. Fans need only remember a scene in the previous episode to accept that there is something about baby Noah's disappearance that may be tied to Joanna.

The scene which features Joanna in a bathtub with a burner phone, accessing social media through an account named Luke Holt, puts the grief-stricken mother's current state-of-mind into question. Why go through all the effort to acquire a different mobile phone and use – or even steal – another person's identity to respond to social media posts? Is Joanna simply buckling under public pressure and is trying to fight public backlash in her own way or does she have a different agenda?
But there is also the possibility that it is Alistair – not Joana – who is tied to Noah's disappearance. While the public may be taking potshots at Joana for being a potentially bad mother, there is an outcry slowly increasing in intensity that blames Alistair's ex-wife, Alexandra (Asher Keddie), for Noah's disappearance.
Fans will remember that Alistair and Joana originally came to Australia to negotiate the custody over Alistair and Alexandra's daughter. If Alistair is sinister enough to use Noah and Joana for his plans, he could possibly be using the public outcry to also win custody over his daughter in “The Cry” episode 3.
BBC One recently posted a preview photo for “The Cry” episode 3 on Twitter. The photo features a hardly stressed Joanna being mobbed by the media, with the photo description mentioning an ex-wife under arrest.
