Marvel Chief Creative Officer and veteran artist Joe Quesada recently revealed an official image of his “The Defenders” poster specifically created for the latter’s wrap party for the cast and crew. Blastr said the original artwork featured Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in their signature colors: Daredevil is in red, Jessica Jones is in purple, Luke Cage in yellow, while Iron Fist is in green. Sigourney Weaver, who plays Alexandra, the main villain in the series, is also heavily featured in the series in her profile.
In a tweet, CBR said Quesada insisted that while the image is a render, it is by no means the show’s official promotional image. According to him, the image was a “gift” he created for the show’s cast and crew. He also didn’t hesitate to share his excitement with the upcoming series, saying, “This show is going to blow you away!”
But one other character is suspiciously present in Quesada’s artwork. Just under Weaver’s profile on the right is a profile of a hooded Elektra Natchios (played well by Elodie Yung in “Daredevil”). Like Weaver’s character, Elektra also has no color, and looms over the superheroes despite the fact that she is placed in the background.
Digital Spy said that Elektra is expected to return in the Netflix-Marvel universe, and that there was a claim that she would be a series regular in “The Defenders.” However, her placement alongside Alexandra appears to suggest that she might be fighting against Daredevil and the rest of the “Defenders.” Following Elektra’s story in “Daredevil,” she’ll most likely be resurrected by the Hand as Black Sky, a “feared” weapon.
