A foreign exchange student program sets the story arc of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 in motion. At the center of it is Shizuku Kitayama, who will be allowed under extremely rare circumstances to leave Japan and study in the United States of North America (USNA).
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 spoilers
One of the first events likely happening at the start of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is a send-off party for Shizuku. From there, things should steadily escalate as Japan welcomes a student from the USNA.
Shizuku will be allowed to leave Japan and stay in USNA for three months through a student exchange program. Fans may find the characters quite surprised that this is even happening given how much the countries are protective of the technologies they have developed that could be leaked when Magicians leave their territory. But what will alarm Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba even more is the lack of information about Shizuku’s replacement at the start of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2.
It was announced that “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will focus on the Visitor Arc (volumes 9-11), but it is very likely to include some events from the preceding Recollection Arc (volume 8) as well. The latter part of volume 8 establishes the main conflict that will arise in the Visitor Arc and its imminent threat specifically to Tatsuya. Maya Yotsuba, Tatsuya and Miyuki’s aunt, will warn them that they may have become subjects of interest by the USNA because of his Material Burst ability.
As for Shizuku, she may not appear as much in the early episodes of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 as she is outside Japan. However, she will play an important role in helping Tatsuya understand the anomaly that occurred following the events of season 1.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date
“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was first planned to premiere next month after being announced last fall. However, its production had to be temporarily postponed in adherence to COVID-19 safety measures in Japan. The new episodes are now slated to arrive starting in October -- a situation still better than the previous years when it seemed like the anime adaptation of Tsutomu Sato’s same title light novel series was not getting a second installment.
