Fans have been anticipating many video game trade shows this year, including EA Play. Its format will be different given the COVID-19 crisis, but the event will still push through. However, any sort of announcement about “The Sims 5” is still very uncertain.
‘The Sims 5’ announcement is unlikely at EA Play Live
Several video game companies have started a new tradition by skipping the annual E3 conference and organizing their own events in recent years. EA joined that list last year, and it is not going to break its new tradition amid a pandemic.
However, like most events in 2020, the EA Play will not have any in-person attendance. This also explains its new official name that is EA Play Live. Fans can follow the game publisher’s announcements as its presentations will be live-streamed on its official website on Thursday, June 11, at 4 p.m. PT.
The fact that EA decided to go through the event means it has a lineup of big announcements. Some of them may be about titles that fans already know, while there could still be other big surprises in the works. But it is safe to say that many EA fans are most excited about the possibility of “The Sims 5” announcement.
To this day, EA and Maxis have yet to confirm that the “The Sims 5” is already in full development. Fans believe that the next life simulation game is already in the works in some capacity. And if it turns out to be included in the EA Play Live 2020 program, it could lead to even better news such as its release date.
‘The Sims 5’ gameplay, release date possibilities
Many have been eyeing the unveiling of “The Sims 5” for some time now because the franchise usually gets a new main installment in around five years. But game development has gotten more tedious, thus, requiring more time to be completed recently. However, that is not the only possible explanation of why the next game might still not be announced at EA Play this month.
Developers have made previous pronouncements that more content updates are slated to be released for “The Sims 4.” With the current game’s roadmap extending for at least another year, announcing “The Sims 5” this month at EA Play might be a premature move.
