Three actors from the AMC series “The Walking Dead” have been promoted to series regulars. Pollyanna McIntosh, who plays the Scavengers chief Jadis, Steven Ogg (Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan character’s right-hand man, Simon), and Katelyn Nacon (the love interest of Chandler Rigg’s Carl character), will now be coming in the zombie drama as show regulars, Deadline said.
Ahead of the upcoming season finale, fans of the hit series last saw Jadis betraying Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group to Negan during the battle against the Saviors, while Simon will be filling in the shoes long departed by Negan’s former ally, Dwight (Austin Amelio). Enid has since appeared in “The Walking Dead” Season 5.
Daily Star said the promotion appears to fill the holes left vacant by the show’s lead stars, Steven Yuen, Michael Cudlitz and Sonequa Martin-Green. Yuen, who played fan favorite Glenn in the series, and Cuditz, who was memorable as the ginger-haired Abraham, were bludgeoned off by Negan’s famous wire-wrapped bat. Martin-Green exited the series when she took a poison pill and became an element of surprise as a zombified Sasha to overturn Negan’s odds to succeed in the groups’ battle.
Although it wasn’t a surprise for Ogg and Nacon to get promoted to series regulars, Blastr said McIntosh’s promotion was “interesting.” Citing showrunner Scott Gimple, Jadis and her Scavengers could play a pivotal role in the brewing war ahead:
“Showrunner Scott Gimple has teased Season 8 will get deeper into the politics of how these communities interact with war in the air, and the fight for a free civilization itself.”
“The Walking Dead” is expected to return in October on AMC.
