“The Walking Dead” Season 9 is almost here and the anticipation among fans is building to a fever pitch. As the premiere nears, bits and pieces of information about the upcoming season are dripping out. For starters, it seems tensions between Norman Reedus’s “Daryl” and Andrew Lincoln’s “Rick” are about to ramp up. “The Walking Dead” Season 9 will also apparently see bullets finally running out.
The end of Season 8 of the show saw Rick sparing the life of “Negan” (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), much to the frustration of the other characters Daryl and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Express.co.uk notes. This is why it wouldn’t be a surprise if “The Walking Dead” Season 9 started with tensions between Rick and Daryl at an all-time high.
Speaking recently to Entertainment Weekly, the program’s new showrunner, Angela Kang, provided some key insights into what fans can expect from the upcoming season. Based on her comments, it seems “The Walking Dead” Season 9 is going to be one that tests the strength of the relationship of the group. It could also be the prelude to the rumored exit of Andrew Lincoln as the show’s lead.
“We’ll see a lot of the core relationships,” Kang told the publication. “We’ll be delving into those and seeing how people are thinking about bigger problems. And thinking about their philosophies, and thinking about how people come together and create civilization and what those rules are going to be, and how you contend with it. And I think that there’ll be some really interesting storylines for people who care about some of these characters that we’ve been following for years. Because they are family at this point, and they love each other. They respect each other, but those relationships are very complicated. So, we’ll see our group together working in unity in a lot of ways. But you’ll also see some changes in the way that they deal with each other.”
Aside from the relationship troubles that will be plaguing the characters, it seems “The Walking Dead” Season 9 will also see resources becoming scarcer. Apparently, there will be significantly fewer bullets and supplies of gas in this new season, Comicbook.com reports. This addresses one of the biggest criticisms directed at the show, which seems to have an endless supply of bullets and gas despite the zombie apocalypse.
