“The Winds of Winter” is on its way, and it was George R.R. Martin who confirmed this. The author said that he is still working on his sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series but he is progressing well now.
Many fans have been waiting for the book for years, with the book having been delayed, but their excitement was renewed when Martin spoke about it this year. He had rarely sat down for an interview or give any update about “The Winds of Winter” but in the past months, he has been providing details, so fan interest has built up again.
Firstly, the author confessed that he could have finished the novel in time for its original release date several years ago but because he was working slowly, he missed many deadlines. Martin also shared that another reason why “The Winds of Winter” is a long time coming is that it is difficult to write.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, George R.R. Martin said, "I'm working on it and I wish I'd been done four years ago, but I'm slow and the book is very complex.”
Now, he does not want fans to wait further so he is doing his best to complete “The Winds of Winter” as soon as possible. Martin said that he is skipping events that he usually goes to so he can use the time to write the book.
Lastly, George R.R. Martin also disclosed that writing “TWOW” and his other novels where “Game of Thrones” is based has not been an easy task for him. In fact, it is taking its toll on him and that is why he wants to give up doing novels of this scale.
“This thing nearly killed me and it’s probably the most massive work that I’m capable of doing,” Express quoted the 70-year-old author as saying. “I hope to continue writing standalone novels, novellas and short stories, but nothing on this scale.”
