‘The Winds of Winter’ News & Update: George RR Martin’s ‘Fire and Blood’ Details and Why ‘TWOW’ Is Delayed

The Winds of Winter

“The Winds of Winter” still has a long way to go before it finally reaches bookshelves. Although George R.R. Martin assured fans that he is working on it, based on his latest updates, it seems that he is finding it hard to finish the book.

He even admitted that he wishes he had already completed “The Winds of Winter” a long time ago, according to its original targeted release date. Apparently, he is also frustrated with his progress in writing the novel.

“I'm working on ‘The Winds of Winter,’ and I wish I'd been done four years ago, but I'm slow," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

While George R.R. Martin admitted he is slow, he did not reveal much about the reason for the delays. With the lack of such details, fans came up with possible reasons why the famous author has failed to finish “The Winds of Winter” on time.

Some fans think that because George R.R. Martin keeps expanding the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, he has had to edit and rewrite many parts to keep up with the changing story sequences. Another fan opined that the author may have too many ideas and wrote stories that could easily make two books. Now, he is having trouble shortening the story of “TWOW,” thus the delay, the fan claimed.

There are many theories about the cause of “The Winds of Winter's” delay but only Martin knows the exact reason. Meanwhile, while fans are waiting for the novel to be released, the author is releasing “Fire and Blood” first.

The book is like a companion to the “ASOIAF” series because it tells the backstory of “Game of Thrones,” the history of the Targaryens. It is slated to be out in stores by Nov. 20 and The Daily Express shared some images and contents of the book. As posted, the first three chapters are “The Reign of the Dragon — The Wars of King Aegon I,” “Three Heads of the Dragon — The Government of King Aegon I,” and “The Sons of the Dragon.”
