“Toy Story 4” has had a tumultuous production period, with the release date for the upcoming installment to the Pixar-Disney franchise already pushed back twice since it was officially announced back in 2014. But more recent developments in the movie's production are doing nothing to assure fans that “Toy Story 4” is on track.
Pixar co-founder John Lasseter, who directed and wrote for the first two “Toy Story” movies, announced his departure from the company earlier this year after several accusations of sexual misconduct last year. At the same time, the controversial departure of “Toy Story” 4's original writers, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, have also fanned the flames of doubt amongst fans regarding the upcoming movie. While Pixar is embroiled in scandals while “Toy Story 4” is still in the works, it seems there is some hope for the beloved Pixar film when it gets released in theaters next year.
Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen recently teased fans about his work with “Toy Story 4” during an interview on CBS's “The Talk.” According to the "Santa Clause" actor, he had already finished some of the voice-acting work for his Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 4.” In addition, Allen teased that “Toy Story 4” will be an emotional rollercoaster for fans who have already enjoyed the previous movies.
For fans wondering what “Toy Story 4” will be about, John Lasseter previously mentioned that the upcoming movie's story will revolve around the romance between Woody (Tom Hanks) and Bo Peep (Annie Potts). Fans would know that Bo Peep was written out in “Toy Story 3” because she was supposedly given away prior to the events of that movie. Considering the direction of “Toy Story 4,” fans could potentially see a movie set in between the second and third movie.
Fans looking forward to Buzz and Woody's continuing adventures can hope to see “Toy Story 4” gracing the big screen on June 21, 2019.
