The wait for a new “Valorant” Agent has been taking longer than usual, but it will be worth the wait once KAY/O is added to the game next week. Aside from being a fierce-looking robot, he is also equipped with knives that can disable his opponents’ abilities.
Riot Games unveiled the first glimpse of the next “Valorant” Agent, KAY/O, in a new trailer on Thursday. The developer has also released the details about his abilities, but his backstory and how he ties up in the recently introduced lore is still a mystery.
KAY/O is an Initiator, which means one of his main roles is to create space for his teammates to advance by forcing defenders to move away. This explains why Agents under the Initiator class in “Valorant” often have weapons that produce big flashes or stun the enemies. In KAY/O, though, the robot’s equipment comes with another cool trick.
The upcoming “Valorant” Agent has a special blade, which fans have seen in previous Easter eggs in the game, equipped through the ZERO/point (E) ability. Once the knife hits a surface, it creates an explosion radius, and enemies stepping within that area will have their abilities disabled.
Like a true Initiator, KAY/O has other explosive weapons in his arsenal. FRAG/ment (C) equips the new “Valorant” Agent with some fragment sticks that will blow up multiple times once they hit the ground that can inflict serious damage on his opponents. The FLASH/drive (Q) enables KAY/O’s flash grenade that will temporarily blind enemies within its reach. Right-click firing will activate a charged flash that only needs to cook for a second. Left-clicking will slightly extend the cooking time to 1.6 seconds.
Lastly, KAY/O’s ability kit includes NULL/cmd (X) that overloads the new “Valorant” Agent with polarized radianite energy allowing him to produce large energy pulses that can also suppress enemies that it will hit. This is obviously KAY/O’s ultimate ability so when he is killed while in this state he gains Combat Stim. When he is killed while overloaded with radianite energy, he enters a destabilized state giving his allies a chance to revive him. KAY/O is one of the highlights in the upcoming “Valorant” episode 3 act 1 that will go live on June 22.
