It’s safe to say that things are heating up in “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 13 following the relatively cold opening of the previous episode. Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is in a lot of trouble right now for what he did to Lord Cuthred (Jonathan Delaney Tynan). However, events in Kattegat are no less fiery thanks to the sacrifice that Ivar the Boneless (played by Alex Hogh Andersen) will be burning.
In the promo clip below, it’s clear that “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 13 is going to be an episode where a lot of things are going to happen in a short period of time. Ivar is thinking about sacrificing someone who is known to the people and there have been rumblings that it could be the seer. If this is the case, the current ruler of Kattegat is even crazier than he seems
“Heahmund must convince King Alfred that his actions are in defense of the crown; Ubbe and Torvi strengthen the position of the Vikings, but not all in the Viking camp support their strategy; another settler disappears in Iceland,” the clip's description reads.
For some context on the matter of Ivar’s potential sacrifice of the seer in “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 13, the blind figure is basically the Norse version of a pope. So sacrificing him to the gods that he represents would be akin to Ivar asking to be cursed. It simply makes no sense for him to do this, but he has been doing a lot of things that made no sense.
As for Heahmund, he is going to have to explain to King Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) why he thought killing Lord Cuthred was a good idea. If he doesn’t, his head might be the next to go. Viewers will find out if this is exactly the case when “Vikings” Season 5 Episode 13 airs on Dec. 12.
