FOLSOM, Calif., Jan. 08, 2018 -- Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), in partnership with the CA Department of Food and Agriculture, successfully launched the Accela Civic Platform to support the CalCannabis program requirements as mandated by the CA legislature. VIP’s agile/scrum approach to implementing this cloud-based commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) regulatory solution allowed this mission critical system to be implemented with an accelerated timeline.
On January 1, 2018, the CalCannabis program officially launched this online licensing and enforcement system and is now accepting applications and issuing annual and temporary licenses for cultivators, nurseries and processors. The online system can be accessed at: https://aca6.accela.com/calcannabis/Welcome.aspx.
The goal of this implementation was to deploy a powerful, highly configurable licensing solution that can keep pace with the rapidly changing medical and recreational cannabis regulations and can ultimately improve service to the citizens of California. Multiple stakeholders and licensing authorities were involved in defining, reviewing and implementing cannabis-related operational policies and procedures in accordance with the Adult-Use of Marijuana Act (“AUMA”) requirements.
“Medical and Recreational Use Cannabis is a relatively new industry,” said Jonna Ward, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VIP. “We are excited to be supporting the State in this transition. We realize California will serve as the gold standard in the cannabis space and we are pleased with our leadership in helping the Department achieve this aggressive milestone.”
