HBO isn't particularly known for getting season installments out the door in a timely fashion. The same can be said for its best sci-fi Western series based on Michael Crichton's work, with “Westworld” season 3 looking to follow the two-year gap between season 1 and season 2.
SpoilerTV recently released a list of production dates for multiple shows, with “Westworld” season 3 marked as due for production in March 2019. The show's production will come almost a year after it was announced for renewal by the cable television network.
Should production on the show wrap up within the next year, fans may be looking at a 2020 release for “Westworld” season 3. The third season could mirror “Westworld” season 2's air date, broadcasting in the early second quarter of 2020. Optimistic fans can hopefully enjoy “Westworld” season 3 sometime in late 2019, but the show's cast and crew have yet to provide an official target date for the show's broadcast.
Fans who just can't wait for “Westworld” season 3 can look forward to the upcoming installment to focus on storylines that will explore the non-human psyche of the “Westworld” cast. Fans can expect storylines such as Dolores's (Evan Rachel Wood) obsession with the imperfections of her Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) copies in Season 2's finale to be further developed in “Westworld” season 3.
The show's creators, husband-and-wife tandem Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, mention that fans can expect a wholly different feel for the show when “Westworld” season 3 airs – comparing the third season as a sort of repiloting due to the drastic shift in narrative.
Fans can also expect Tessa Thompson's Charlotte Hale to make a comeback in “Westworld” season 3 even after her character's death in season 2. Lisa Joy confirms the actress's return and teases a violent development for her character in the upcoming season as the writers plan to unveil her character's true nature.
