HBO's sci-fi western drama may yet to get an exact air date from the network but fans are already anticipating which of their beloved characters – good or bad – will make the cut to feature in “Westworld” season 3. But it seems it is not only the fans who are anticipating the official announcement of which “Westworld” character gets to return on the show.
In an interview with Newsweek, Thandie Newton – who portrays the host Maeve Millay – mentions that she is still looking forward to getting confirmation that Maeve will be resurrected for “Westworld” season 3. Newton mentions that she has gotten particularly invested in Maeve due to the character's arc and was highly emotional when her death scene was being filmed.
Fans will remember that Maeve was destroyed in the season 2 finale in her effort to save her daughter (Jasmyn Rae). Maeve Millay's unfortunate destruction was particularly heartwrenching for fans considering the emotional baggage that the character brought on-screen that was beautifully portrayed by Newton. It seems that Newton hopes to be able to re-explore the complex character of Maeve in “Westworld” season 3, especially considering the direction that the upcoming installment will take.
“Westworld” season 3 creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have already confirmed that the upcoming installment will take a different direction compared to the show's two seasons. Nolan and Joy expressed the desire to explore the minds of the new beings that emerged from the Park and how they will continue to grow considering their immortality after tasting their new freedom. If Maeve takes with her the memories of her lost daughter, it will definitely be interesting to see how Maeve Millay will behave when the truth of “Westworld” season 3's direction is revealed to her.
Fans of the show may have to sit tight a little longer for the show's upcoming installment as production for the series has been scheduled to start in March 2019. Fans can hopefully look forward to a late 2019 or early 2020 broadcast for “Westworld” season 3.
