“Young Sheldon” Season 2 is set to return this August with its premiere episode titled “A Crisis of Faith and Octopus Aliens.” Fans of the show will be familiar with the program’s rather unique concept, especially given how the narrator is the grown-up version of the young star. As for what fans can expect once the family comedy does return, the most prominent feature is a temporary crisis of faith.
In the premiere episode of “Young Sheldon” Season 2, events will apparently occur that would shake Mary’s (Zoe Perry) faith, Broadway World notes. Instead of encouraging his mother down the path of breaking away from religions, however, Sheldon (Iain Armitage) will be helping her as an ally.
As fans of “The Big Bang Theory” will already know, Mary Cooper is as religious as they come. It’s difficult to imagine her losing faith in God or grown-up Sheldon (Jim Parsons) willingly helping his mother retain her beliefs. Yet, this is exactly what the premise of the “Young Sheldon” Season 2 premiere episode is going to be.
With regards to what fans of the series can expect from the upcoming season, Otaku Art notes that it might also be 22 episodes long, just like the first. With season 1 of the show receiving relatively positive reviews, it’s likely that “Young Sheldon” Season 2 will also deliver on the same smart-boy antics. Of course, a lot of it has to do with the popularity of “The Big Bang Theory.”
Speaking of which, “Young Sheldon” Season 2 is also likely to benefit from the news that its source material’s upcoming season will be its last. Jim Parsons will be departing the show, so fans will be saying goodbye to “The Big Bang Theory.” The premiere of “Young Sheldon” Season 2 on Sept. 24 gives fans hope, however, that the actor could at least stay on as a narrator.
