Professor Mark Evans is the Director of the Democracy 2025 - bridging the trust divide initiative at Old Parliament House in Australia. He was formerly Director of the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis at the University of Canberra and the World-wide Universities Public Policy Network, Vice President of the Joint University Council for the Applied Social Sciences and Head of Politics at the University of York in the UK.
His research focuses on the design of better governance practices to bridge the trust deficit between government and citizen. Mark has played an international role in supporting change governance practices and has acted as a senior policy advisor, delivered leadership development programmes and managed evaluation projects for 26 countries, the EU, UN and the World Bank. Mark is the author, coauthor and editor of 25 books in his field and has been the editor of the international journal Policy Studies since 2005. His latest book (with Gerry Stoker) is Methods that Matter: Social Science and Evidence based Policymaking (Policy Press, 2017). He has been awarded honorary positions with the universities of Hull, Renmin and York and is currently a Council member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
