While my broad field (teaching/research) focuses on Modern Europe, 1789-yesterday, my specific interest has always been in the history and development of political cartoons, visual satire, and comic art. Most of my published work (books and articles) engages in some way with this field, and it is in that area that I am known, nationally and internationally.
