Assistant Lecturer in Music, University of Manchester
I am an assistant lecturer at the University of Manchester where I teach on film music theory, screen studies, and media and popular culture more widely. My PhD looked at music and worldbuilding in fantasy film franchises post-2001, and my research includes work on the Hollywood film industry, as well as drawing on musical and audiovisual analysis, fandom studies, transmediality and theories of media consumption in the digital age.
Before gaining my PhD I trained as a saxophonist at the Royal Northern College of Music, and alongside teaching and research I also work as a music facilitator in schools for children with special educational needs and in care homes for those living with dementia.
