Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen, a clinical health psychologist, is the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) Professor in Child Health Psychology. She is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Adjunct Associate of Pediatric, a member of the Owerko Centre at ACHRI and a full member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute.
Her research identifies relationships between physical health and psychosocial variables in the transition to parenthood. She is particularly interested in how to intervene and change health trajectories in vulnerable populations. A main area of her work includes testing interventions in pregnancy that reduce parental -- both mothers and fathers -- stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia with the goal of improving parent and child mental and physical health trajectories. She is also interested in assessment and intervention using mobile technology. Her research is supported by the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
