Daniel Skorich

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, The University of Queensland

Daniel Skorich is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. Daniel’s research explores questions at the intersection of cognitive, social and clinical psychology, with a particular focus on integrative theory construction. His PhD research – completed in the Research School of Psychology at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2013 – challenged the dominant cognitive miser/motivated tactician perspective on stereotyping and impression formation, and touched on fundamental issues in the cognition of categorization and face processing. Daniel completed a (pre-doc) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the ANU in 2011, exploring personality, self-categorization and the self-concept, and has convened courses on Criminal Psychology and Applied Psychology, also at the ANU. Daniel’s current research focuses on identifying the key dysfunctional cognitive mechanism underlying the social difficulties of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and on the effects of self-concept structure and social connectedness on health and well-being.
