Dorian Llywelyn

President, Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
Educated in England, Spain and the United States, as well as in his native Wales, Rev. Dorian Llywelyn, S.J. is the president of the Institute. Previously at Santa Clara University, he directed the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education and served as the University’s mission officer. Rev. Llywelyn has written several books and scholarly articles on the intersection of faith and culture, and has particular interests in nationalism and religion, and the theology of popular religiosity. He systematic theology at Heythrop College, University of London, and served for thirteen years in the department of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University, where he was also the first director of the Huffington Ecumenical Institute.

Rev. Llywelyn received a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Wales; a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology; a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca in Spain; and a B.A. in English from the University of Cambridge.
