Cadillac Escalade IQ Teaser Released Ahead of August 9 Debut, Featuring Advanced Ultium Battery Technology
The Cadillac Escalade IQ teaser was published by General Motors (GM) 's luxury brand in anticipation of the electric vehicle's debut on August 9, 2023.
Cadillac has released a preview video of the all-electric Escalade IQ, which features the brand's emblematic nameplate and is a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). The Tesla Cybertruck's teaser video preceding its unveiling event was comparable to the brief teaser video. At that time, Tesla displayed the Cybertruck's distinctive headlamps, showing the all-electric pickup truck's appearance. Tesla's announcement of the Cybertruck was preceded by previews that provided minimal information yet sufficient details to sustain public interest in the vehicle.
The brand's two SUV EVs, the Celestiq and Lyriq, will be joined by the Cadillac Escalade IQ. The luxury automaker has not disclosed any additional information regarding the Escalade IQ. Nevertheless, it may utilize the same batteries as the Cadillac Celestiq and Lyriq. General Motors' Ultium battery cells and modules may be implemented in the Escalade IQ.
General Motors unveiled its new Ultium batteries and flexible global platform in 2020, intending to broaden its electric vehicle portfolio. The new Ultium batteries were large-format pouch-style cells stacked vertically or horizontally within a battery case. According to GM, the new Ultium energy options range from 50 to 200 kWh, allowing for a maximum range of 400 miles or more on a complete charge.
GM acknowledged three years ago that Ultium-powered electric vehicles were intended for DC rapid charging and Level 2 charging. It was anticipated that most electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with Ultium cells would have 400-volt battery packs capable of fast charging up to 200 kW. Nevertheless, GM's vehicle platform is anticipated to feature 800-volt battery packs and 350 kW fast-charging capability.
The information that General Motors (GM) released in 2020 may have evolved, particularly given that the legacy automaker has proclaimed its intention to incorporate Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) into future electric vehicles (EVs). Determining whether the Cadillac Escalade IQ is equipped with a Tesla NACS charging interface would be intriguing.
