“A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3 will be the final installment of the black-comedy drama and is set to have Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) pay for the crimes he committed. Harris himself confirmed in May that filming had already wrapped up and the third season is now in post-production, Otaku art reported.
“A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3 will cover the final books of the Lemony Snickets series, which are “The Slippery Slope,” “The Grim Grotto,” “The Penultimate Peril,” and “The End.” Throughout the final installment, the story will take the Baudelaire children to mountain peaks, the ocean’s depths, and a mysterious cult island.
It can be recalled that the children managed to uncover the secrets of their parents in the previous installment, an avenue that will be explored further in “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3. This centers on a secret society called the Fire Volunteer Department. This society is divided into two factions: the firefighters and the fire-starters.
The firefighters are good-hearted people who put out the fires caused by the fire-starters. The Baudelaire, Quagmires, and Snickets are all firefighters, while Olaf and the rest are fire-starters. “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3 will have these two groups clash against each other, weaving plots and implementing them in order to thwart the advance of the opposing sides.
As for the possibility of a fourth season, Harris, unfortunately, confirmed that “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3 will indeed be the last. The “How I Met Your Mother” alum explained that the whole show wasn’t written to have an overarching plotline but will follow the main storyline without adding fillers into the series.
"It makes me feel like we're doing a specific piece of art, as opposed to just hoping that the zeitgeist holds us up for as many seasons as people can stomach,” Harris said. The air date for “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 3 has yet to be announced but it’s expected to return in early 2019.
