ASSA ABLOY and its subsidiary HID agreed to sell HID’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) business to Vista Equity Partners, a unit that generated $58 million in 2025 sales, according to ASSA ABLOY.

The companies announced the agreement Oct. 16. Their announcements did not state a purchase price. ASSA ABLOY described the unit’s operating margin as strong but did not provide a figure.

The business provides digital trust and identity services, including tools for authentication, encryption and certificate management. Its portfolio includes the IdenTrust and HydrantID software-as-a-service offerings, credential management and ZeroSSL.

Vista said it plans to invest in the team and products while supporting the business’s relationships with customers and partners. ASSA ABLOY President and CEO Nico Delvaux said employees and customers would have “a committed long-term investor” in Vista.

Patrick Severson, Vista’s Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Foundation Fund, said the platform serves organizations with regulatory and compliance needs. HID’s announcement described Vista as having more than $100 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.

HID said customers and partners should continue receiving products and service under existing commitments during the transition. HID expects completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, contingent on regulatory approvals, customary closing conditions and consultation with employees.
