Apple fans have been waiting for the AirPods Studio for practically the entire year now. The over-ear headphones have been making headlines since the first quarter of 2020, but its announcement during next week’s event is still not guaranteed.
AirPods Studio release date: Will it be unveiled with iPhone 12 next week?
The Cupertino tech giant announced earlier this week that it is holding the much-awaited October event, now called “Hi, Speed,” where the iPhone 12 series is expected to be revealed. Apple is also anticipated to unveil more devices, including the AirPods Studio, for the remainder of the year.
While it makes sense for the AirPods Studio to be announced at the same event as Apple’s next flagship mobile devices, well-known leaker Jon Prosser reported that the headphones’ mass production will not be completed until Oct. 20. Prosser’s source further suggested, “I suppose [Apple] could still announce them at the October 13th event and ship them at the end of this month or beginning of next.”

“AirPods Studio mass production isn’t complete until October 20th.
I suppose they could still announce them at the October 13th event and ship them at the end of this month or beginning of next.”
This opens several possibilities for the AirPods Studio’s retail launch. It can still be announced next week without a specific date of its arrival in stores like what Apple did for the new iPad Air. The tablet, which looks very similar to the latest iPad Pro, was announced last month but still does not have a particular delivery date as of this writing. The Apple online store only says it will be “available in October.”
Prosser also suggested that Apple could either announce AirPods Studio by itself through a press release or make it a part of the anticipated November event. Apple is speculated to have another event next month where the new Macs with ARM-based chips would be introduced.
AirPods Studio design, specs, features
The AirPods Studio has been reported to sport the exclusive features introduced on the AirPods Pro, such as the active noise cancellation and transparency mode. Prosser has also previously released 3D renders of the headphones reportedly based on photos and videos from his sources.

The headphones are expected to sport ear pads with interchangeable padding and advanced sensors that could detect the user’s right and left ear to automatically adjust acoustics. Speculations on the AirPods Studio announcement intensified this week after Bloomberg reported that Apple will stop selling third-party headphones from brands such as Bose, Sonos, and Logitech.
