“Alita: Battle Angel 2” is anticipated after the success of the debut movie. The viewers would be happy to know that a sequel is indeed happening and this was affirmed by both James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez.
It was revealed that the two have a plan for sequels, a trilogy to be exact, thus “Alita: Battle Angel 2” would be back to the big screen. The team has not yet determined when filming will begin as Cameron is still busy with his “Avatar” movie sequels. However, the notes on its script and storyline are being reviewed by Rodriguez already after the former sent it to him by mail.
"Well, we obviously have a plan for that," Rodriguez told Digital Spy. He added that Cameron has 1,000 pages of notes for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” and he sent about 600 of them to him. The director then clarified that these would actually be divided for the trilogy, so they are not just for the second installment alone.
“He (Cameron) told me he will not send all the 1,000 pages of notes but I’ll send you like 600," Rodriguez said. "There's like one whole document about the trilogy because that's just part of his process. Here are three movies. Just so you know what to include in the first story and whatnot.”
With this statement, there is no doubt that “Alita: Battle Angle 2” will be in production. Plus, it will not be just two but three movies in all so fans can look forward to two sequels.
Now, 20th Century Fox announced that it would be releasing “Alita: Battle Angel” in Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultra HD 4K formats. As per Forbes, the 3D Blu-ray will come in a package with the 4K Blu-ray disc which is rare. Plus, the movie will also be in 4K DB in HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats.
The Digital release for the “Alita” movie has been set for July 9, and it can be bought via iTunes and Amazon while the DVD and 4K Blu-ray is coming on July 23 on Amazon. Meanwhile, stay tuned for updates on “Alita: Battle Angel 2” as more are coming once James Cameron is ready to film again.
