There have been many times in the past when canceled or floundering properties were saved by fan enthusiasm via the purchase of merchandise. “Family Guy” is a good example of this after it was brought back by Fox following cancellation when its DVD sales went through the roof. Now, “Alita: Battle Angel 2” needs the same level of support from fans. They can start by buying the Blue-ray and DVD copies of “Alita: Battle Angel” in July.
Although the movie came out in February, the physical copies of the first “Alita: Battle Angel” movie is coming on July 23, Cinemablend reports. That is a long wait that can only be explained by the Fox merger causing mayhem on every level of the company. However, this can also be a form of blessing for those who want to see “Alita: Battle Angel 2” come to life.
Basically, if viewers can prove that there is enough enthusiasm for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” via sales of the physical copies of the first movie, Disney will make it happen. It’s just that simple. Money talks in Hollywood with the loudest voice. Although the first film did end up making $400 million worldwide, the sequel stands to make even more if it ever hits theatres.
Now that moviegoers have a much better understanding of what they can expect from the film, “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is likely to draw more attention from movie enthusiasts when it comes out. The biggest issue with the first flick is the matter of marketing, with even the reviewers having no idea what to make of it. This translated to bad reviews, thus dampening the spark that could have made “Alita: Battle Angel” an even bigger hit.
This is why, if fans truly want to make “Alita: Battle Angel 2” a reality, they will need to show that there is a huge enough market demand for it. The sales of the physical copies would be the biggest proof that the moneymen will need to make it happen.
