Amazon Web Services (AWS) will help Toyota Motor Corp build its Mobility Services Platform to manage and monetize data gathered from its global vehicle fleet.
The platform would enable Toyota to process and analyze data that can be used to develop services such as ride and car sharing, behavior-based insurance, and maintenance notifications.
The deal is an expansion of AWS's collaboration with Toyota while marking the e-commerce giant's foray into transportation.
In July, AWS also expanded its partnership with Germany's Volkswagen AG to help develop the latter's cloud-based software and portal to allow customers to buy and sell industrial applications.
AWS previously has partnered with transportation providers such as Uber and Avis, automotive suppliers such as Panasonic Corp, Aptiv, and Nvidia Corp, and self-driving heavy truck startups Embark and TuSimple.
