Pushing further in to the Android market, Apple last week released its Apple Music App on the Google Play Store, following the September release of ‘Move to iOS’, it’s first ever app for Android users.
“We’ve obviously been really excited about the response we’ve gotten to Apple Music. People love the human curation aspects of it, discovery, radio,” Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue told TechCrunch. “But from the moment we got into music, many, many years ago, we’ve always wanted to do things for everyone when it came down to music. Part of that was letting you enjoy your music no matter where you were and what products you were using.”
Users will get 3-month free trial to play from over 30 million songs in the Apple Music catalog. Music lovers can enjoy curated playlists (handpicked recommendations by music experts based on listener’s preferences), and radio shows on Beats 1 or play radio stations created by Apple editors.
TechCrunch reports that Apple Music is a beta version on Android, meaning that it will be missing some features. However, it very similar to the version on iOS and prices are same worldwide.
It has 29MB size and requires Android 4.3 or above. The Google Play page for the app says that music videos will be coming soon. Moreover, family membership sign-ups and upgrades require Mac or iOS.
TechTimes says that the app is available for Android in all countries where Apple Music has launched for iOS in, except for China. The beta release of the app in the Chinese mainland is expected soon.
