Kirill Grouchnikov, a Google engineer, has recently provided a sneak-peek of new and improved Google Play Store. He has posted several images online that show an upgraded mobile interface with better animations, improved navigation and simplified way to switch between apps and entertainment offerings, Techcrunch reported.
“I've always thought that Play Store was rather ugly compared to other Google apps", he wrote on his Google+ page.
The screenshots show that the Google Play homepage organizes the contents into two broad categories: “Apps & Games” and “Entertainment”. The latter includes movies, TV shows, books and Newsstand subscription. Moreover, a new “highlights” row features the best of what’s new in Apps & Entertainment, while tabs at the top allows quick access to key areas on Google Play, like Top Charts, Categories, or the Family section (kid-friendly apps and games).
Distinct use of colors makes it easier to identify the Apps side and the Entertainment side. The navigational elements in the former are in Android green shade, while the latter is more vibrant and uses blue, red, orange, and purple.
Grouchnikov showed off an “elastic animation” in the new user interface, where a green bar expands into status bar when it gets close and pops back down on the way back.
Also, he said that the latest Store release supports right-to-left flow of information for all RTL languages supported by the platform.
No official announcement has been made by the search engine giant regarding the ETA for the release.
