Apple is reportedly transforming the iPhone SE 4 into the iPhone 16E, featuring an OLED display, a refined iPhone 14-inspired design, and advanced functionalities like the Action Button, making it a standout option for budget-conscious buyers.
Apple May Follow Google's Strategy for Affordable iPhones
Like Google's affordable 'a' series, which debuts a few months after the flagship models, Apple might do the same.
The rumor was spread by X tipster Majin Bu, who claimed to have heard from reliable sources that the upcoming iPhone model would be named the 16E rather than the SE 4. Additionally, the source confirmed previous claims and rumors regarding the display characteristics and design of the inexpensive iPhone by sharing more data about it.
iPhone 16E Expected to Feature iPhone 14 Design
According to Majin Bu, the iPhone 16E would have a larger 6.1-inch screen and a smaller notch, just like the iPhone 14. A big improvement over the LCD display of the iPhone SE 3 is an OLED display, which he says will be included in the inexpensive iPhone 16E.
When either the iPhone 16E or the iPhone SE 4 are released, Apple will have finished switching from LCD to OLED in the iPhone line.
Limited Color Options for iPhone 16E
As for the iPhone 16E's color options, the leakster says that only black and white will be available, with no other customization possibilities.
Action Button to Differentiate iPhone 16E From Older Models
Last but not least, the Action Button, first seen on the iPhone 15 Pro models, would elevate the 16E and SE 4 over the 14 in comparison.
The Action Button and Camera Control button were upgrades to Apple's iPhone 16 series, but WCCFTECH has a hunch that the cheaper iPhone won't have the latter.
Powerful A18 Chip and iOS 18 Compatibility
Along with 8 GB of RAM, the iPhone 16E will likely use an A18 or A17 Pro CPU. This ensures that the device is pre-configured to work with Apple Intelligence and that the majority of iOS 18's promised capabilities will be operational by the time it's released.
See the renders of the device that the leaker shared—exactly as detailed in previous reports—in the link posted above.
Have a grain of salt with this news for now; there is no proof that the inexpensive iPhone will be dubbed the iPhone 16E, and it is still unknown.
