A leaked roadmap suggests Apple's ambitious future plans, including AR glasses by 2027, foldable iPhones, and an OLED MacBook, reshaping the tech landscape with groundbreaking devices.
Leaked Roadmap Unveils Apple's Future: AR Glasses, Foldable Devices, and OLED MacBook
Tech enthusiasts have heard a lot of rumors about the iPhone SE 4, the foldable iPhone, and the Apple AR glasses, and now a leaked roadmap gives us a better idea of when we might see these devices released.
The document, allegedly from finance firm Samsung Securities, was leaked by well-known tipster @Tech_Reve (via Wccftech). It provides an overview of what Apple plans to release in the coming years, up to 2027.
The augmented reality glasses are expected to be released in 2027. We haven't heard much about the specifications in recent months, with the Apple Vision Pro receiving most of the attention in terms of AR and VR (or mixed reality, as you prefer). We also appear to be getting a cheaper Vision Pro sometime in 2026.
A foldable 20-inch iPad is expected in 2027, with a foldable 8-inch iPhone debuting a year earlier. That contradicts recent rumors that the foldable iPad would be released first - though given that a foldable iPhone would be roughly the size of an iPad mini, there may be some confusion about which product is which.
There's also mention of the long-rumored OLED MacBook in 2026 and the iPhone SE 4 for next year. That confirms a rumor from last month that the mid-ranger would be released in early 2025, with a more modern design and an OLED display also being discussed.
Upcoming Apple Releases: OLED iPads Imminent, with Focus Shifting to iOS 18 and AI at WWDC 2024
As for the rest of this year, it appears that we will get an 11-inch iPad Pro and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, both with OLED screens. Most experts predict that these tablets will be available in 2024 and could arrive any day now (though the 11-inch version may require quick orders).
The usual caveats about leaks and rumors apply: these dates may not be entirely accurate, and Apple's plans are subject to change even if they are. However, this roadmap corresponds well with other leaked information.
If Apple releases new iPads soon, the following major announcements will be about iOS 18, artificial intelligence, and Apple's other software. That will take place at WWDC (the Worldwide Developers Conference) 2024, which is scheduled for June.
