MONTCLAIR, Calif., Jan. 17, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Arrow Dog and Cat Hospital announced that the practice is launching a new low cost vaccine program for cats and dogs. The low-cost vaccine program bundles common vaccines into a single visit for a lower overall cost. For a nominal additional charge, pet owners may add a heartworm test to the dog vaccination package. Rabies vaccination add-ons and a feline combo (FeLV, FIV, and heartworm test) are available for $10. Dr. Nichole Agarwal says the new low-cost vaccine program will make it easier for Claremont, Upland and Montclair pet owners to keep their pets up-to-date on critical, life-saving vaccines. No appointment is necessary for the vaccine clinic.
Montclair veterinarian Dr. Nichole Agarwal is encouraging pet owners to keep their dogs and cats up to date on vaccinations with a new, low-cost vaccine program. The program is available through Arrow Dog and Cat Hospital.
The low-cost vaccine program includes a “Healthy Dog/Puppy” package with distemper/parvo combo, Bordetella, Lepto (optional) and round/hook de-wormer for $61. The Health Dog Plus+ package features the same vaccines with the addition of a heartworm test; this package is $76. The “Healthy Kitten/Cat” package includes the FVRCP vaccine, FeLV vaccine and round/hook de-wormer for $52. Prices shown do not include rabies license fees and/or state or local tax. Proof of prior vaccination is required for the three-year rabies vaccination.
No appointment is necessary to visit the vaccine clinic. Vaccinations are available on Thursdays and Fridays from 2pm to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm. “Pets are grossly under-vaccinated, which significantly increases the risk for illness and infection,” said Dr. Veronica Bocanegra. “Some pet owners mistakenly believe that the single set of vaccinations pets receive when they are puppies or kittens will keep them protected for life. That’s simply not the case. Just like with humans, dogs and cats need regular booster shots to protect against deadly illnesses.”
Dr. Agarwal cautioned that all it takes is a single visit to a dog park, grooming salon or boarding kennel for unvaccinated pets to contract a potentially deadly illness. “Many life-threatening illnesses like parvo do not cause immediate, obvious symptoms,” said Dr. Agarwal. “Consequently, pets can contract an illness while playing with another animal at the dog park and neither pet owner will realize what’s occurred until potentially days later. Worse, while veterinary care has advanced significantly, pets may still need expensive emergency hospitalization in order to recover.”
Arrow Dog and Cat Hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care services to pets in Claremont, Upland and Montclair. In addition to the low-cost vaccination clinic, veterinary care services available at Arrow Dog and Cat Hospital include spay and neuter, pet surgery, annual wellness exams, nutrition counseling, and senior pet care.
