With the “Avengers 4'” movie less than a year away with its May 2019 release, the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) has been particularly quiet aside from the only other Marvel movie to be released prior to “Avengers 4,” “Ms. Marvel.”
In a report by Comicbook, Karen Gillan, who plays the cybernetic daughter of Thanos, Nebula, may have given fans a clue about what to expect for “Avengers 4.” In an interview prior to “Avengers: Infinity War,” Karen Gillan mentioned that she became friends with one of the current heroes of the “Avengers” cast. The Scottish actress mentioned that she can't reveal the nature of the relationship or to whom Nebula will become close, which leaves fans to figure out how Nebula will go about making friends in the MCU.
While “Infinity War” did not really give Gillan's Nebula the space to interact and create relationships with any of the cast, the fallout of Thanos' plans may force the cybernetic assassin to become fast friends with Robert Downey Jr.'s eccentric billionaire, Tony Stark. Fans will remember that amongst those who battled Thanos on Titan, only Iron Man and Nebula were the survivors of Thanos' actions. It is reasonable to expect that Nebula and Tony Stark will be working together in "Avengers 4" to get off Titan and find a solution to bring back the other heroes affected by the Infinity Gauntlet's power.
It would be interesting to see how Nebula's lack of a non-violent personality and Tony Stark's own cynicism will interact if they end up meeting with the rest of the survivors of the “Infinity War.” Comicbook also mentions other possible characters that Nebula will bond with in "Avengers 4" should the speculation of her developing a friendship with Tony Stark not turn out to be accurate.
Fans may see Nebula warming up to Warmachine (Don Cheadle) or Black Widow (Scarlett Johansen) based on how compatible their personalities are. Regardless of whom Nebula buddies up with in the upcoming installment, fans can definitely expect Nebula to take on a more heroic role in "Avengers 4" compared to the antihero niche she currently occupies since her emancipation from Thanos.
