BIGBANG is not active in the entertainment industry today. This is because four of its members - T.O.P., G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung - have enlisted in the army. Seungri, on the other hand, became embroiled in sex and fraud scandal before he could serve the army.
The group’s youngest member, Seungri, has also left the group and terminated his contract with YG Entertainment as he is currently being investigated for a string of crimes involved in the case that was tagged as the Burning Sun Gate.
Now, despite BIGBANG’s absence in the Kpop and overall music scene in Asia, the group proved that they are still popular when their “Fantastic Baby” music video recently reached 400 million views. With the multi-million views, the clip is now the group’s most viewed MV in YouTube, as per Soompi.
It was reported that on June 7, BIGBANG’s “Fantastic Baby” music video surpassed its 400 million views on YouTube. The clip was first uploaded in March 2012, so the number is the result of views for seven years.
At any rate, BIGBANG’s T.O.P is returning soon as his time in the army is almost up. It was revealed that Choi Seung Hyun, the idol’s real name, was originally set to complete his mandatory military service in August, however, due to the new rule that was approved last year, his service period was reduced.
According to Newsen, his time was shortened by 27 days. A new rule to reduce the time of service of public service workers was implemented only last year. The Korean government announced the Defense Reform 2.0, which aims to shorten the time that the Korean men had to serve in the army.
After T.O.P., the next to be discharged in BIGBANG is G-Dragon. He will complete his service in October followed by Taeyang and Daesung in November.
The team, minus Seungri, will be complete again in November, but the question is whether they can make a successful comeback. This is because Yang Hyun Suk, BIGBANG’s agency’s CEO, recently stepped down from his position due to the string of drug, corruption and sex scandals that YG Entertainment and some of its artists are facing right now.
