BIGBANG’s Daesung is in hot water after a news outlet made an expose` about the building he purchased in Gangnam. It was revealed that illegal businesses are running in the property, and it may involve prostitution and other forms of adult entertainment that are unlawful in South Korea.
The BIGBANG member already denied that he knows that illegal businesses are running in his building. In a letter he issued after the news first broke out, Daesung explained that he bought the building a few weeks before his military enlistment date thus he is not aware of what businesses are operating in his property.
Daesung explained his side
The singer asserted that he is not aware that there are illegal activities in his building because when he purchased it, he enlisted in the army at once. However, he admitted that few establishments have already moved in to operate their business there.
The problem is that a news outlet that is investigating what is going on in Daesung’s building found that businesses only open at night and in the morning, the floors with suspicious activities are shut down, and there was even a barricade that when the elevator door opens, a metal door blocks the entrance. It was suggested that rich men go there for prostitution and other adult services.
What will happen if Daesung is guilty
According to Allkpop, BIGBANG’s Daesung could be locked up in prison for up to seven years. If it will be proven that he knew about the illegal activities in his building, he has to face many consequences, although he is not directly operating the businesses.
Daesung was put in a more complex situation after there are people who claim that the singer knew everything since the beginning and he even had a meeting with a lawyer to discuss if he could evict his tenants if they will carry out illegal businesses. Since this story has exploded, the BIGBANG member chose to stay silent probably to avoid the escalation of the reports.
YG Entertainment is affected
Meanwhile, this incident involving BIGBANG’s Daesung is a serious setback for YG Entertainment. The company was hit big time again as its stock plunges following another negative and controversial news about its artist.
